What can I do around the house so this doesn't come back?
Keep water moving away from the slab. Grade should drop about 6 inches over the first 10 feet from the foundation, and in dry stretches, light foundation irrigation 18 to 24 inches out from the perimeter helps moderate the shrink-swell even where clay content is lower than the deep soils to the east.
