Why the elevation survey matters more on this terrain
No two Canyon Lake lots share the same slope orientation, drainage outlet, or depth to bedrock, so a number borrowed from the house next door tells you almost nothing. The survey gives the real picture: which corners have settled, which edges have heaved, and the direction the floor is leaning. On a sloped property that direction is the tell, settlement concentrated at the downhill corners usually means the thin soil mantle is creeping, not that a clay seam is drying out.
