Why Helotes foundations move the way they do

When the lot was graded, those troughs were often bridged with compacted or hand-placed fill, or simply left under the pad. Years later that fill consolidates, or a solution feature slowly opens, and one part of the foundation loses bearing while the slab beside it never budges. There is still clay in the picture. Often not. Why does the survey matter more here than on the clay east of town?
